Tasman Row Boat

Completed mid-2012, the trimaran is constructed from Carbon fibre, epoxy and foam core. It is one of the most sophisticated, high tech ocean row boats ever built. This selfrighting ,‘super’ low-drag tri, complete with its distinctive dolphin bow and whale-tail stern, is a development of Pete Bethune’s world record setting bio-fuel circumnavigator Earthrace and LOMOcean’s top-secret Navy missile boats.

While ocean going rowboats have traditionally struggled into head seas, Danny’s tri has been designed with a wave-piercing bow to minimise pitching and to break the wave allowing the boat through the crest with reduced loss of momentum and less effort. It has two accommodation pods so he can find relative comfort no matter the prevailing wind and sea conditions.

“I am really impressed by Pachoud Yachts. They have exceeded my expectations in every way. Their team is passionate about their projects and have the experience to back it up and make dreams a reality” Danny says.

Danny Sunkel plans to become the first person to row the Tasman in both directions.
